Choirs

There will be about 6 different choirs participating in our Poverty Requiem performance in Ramallah Palestine. The total number of participants is approximately 150 people. Some of these will have to travel from other areas in the West Bank to come to Ramallah, and due to the political situation that makes travel difficult, i cannot garauntee that they will all make it.
Nonetheless, this is an approximation of the singers. As i said before, we will perform the first three of the poverty requiem songs, each will be accompanied by simple dances that reflect poverty in Palestine. Traditional Palestinian Dance will also be incorporated, and two traditional dance pieces will be performed following the 3 poverty songs, in order to add to the performance and encourage more people to attend it.
The first song will be accompanied by a kids dance, So far the number of dancers in the first part will be about 30 kids. for the second song, the dance performance will be done by mainly professional dancers. The dance will incorporate moves from the PR dance that was done in Holland, and the rest will be my own choreography.

I will contact the press, put an add in the newspaper, and we will have a professional film and photography taker.

So I met with Marion Haak, who is the educational and co-ordinator of the Palestine Mozat Festival, and a choral conductor and the Anglican school in Ramallah. She has all the information about PR and will call me within the next two days to see if she wants to conduct the show. My back up plan is a music coordinator from the Najah University choir in Nablus, who will also participate in PR as a choir.

Please accept my apologies for not getting onto my blog sooner. I have been having trouble finding a conductor !!! today I meet with my last chance ! after which I will start training the choirs I have been gathering so far.

The performance will take place in a hall at the Friends School in Ramallah, after several marches and demonstrations that will take place in town as part of the world poverty day activities. We will perform the first two songs of PR, which I am translating into Arabic after everybody's consensus, and these will be accompanied by dances.
We will perform the song mourning, but it may be accompanied by a play back due to lack of time and conductors, and I have proposed to incorporate a little dance performed by children, during which each child will hold up a poster of a martyr, and say their name.

I wish I could give you more information, like numbers and time, but it is coming together this week ! so i will give a more detailed report by the end of this week.
